- Captures micro-plastics
- Fewer fibres come loose from clothing
- Extends the life of your clothes
Micro-plastics are small plastic particles that are present in most everyday objects and have become a major environmental problem. Micro-plastics seep through most filters and eventually end up in our rivers, lakes and seas, affecting marine life.
A lot of micro-plastics in nature come from the waste water from our washing machines when washing clothes made entirely or partly of synthetic material. When you wash materials like nylon, acrylic, polyester and fleece, thousands of fibres loosen from the garment, which until now have been difficult to catch.
This unique wash bag stops the fibres from loosening and prevents the micro-plastics from leaching out with the wash water. Up to 99% of the microfibres that detach from the garments are caught by the wash bag and can easily be removed after washing.
The soft inside is a big part of this bag's functionality. The laundry bag is gentle on the clothes and prevents the fibres from loosening on the garment in the first place. The laundry bag makes your clothes last longer . 75% - 86% fewer fibres come loose during a wash.
Depending on the material and wear and tear of the garment, different amounts of fibres come loose. Most micro-plastics are transparent so you won't be able to see as the micro-plastics begin to collect in the bag. They and often accumulate in the corners and seams of the bag.
Fill the laundry bag with synthetic garments. Do not fill the laundry bag more than half full and even less if the clothes are very dirty. Clothes should be able to move freely around the bag so they get clean. Wash similar colours together. Close the laundry bag and wash as usual. When the laundry is done, remove the wet clothing from the bag and throw any collected micro-plastics in the bin.
The laundry bag is self-cleaning and very durable. The laundry bag is made of specially designed polyester (PET) and does not release micro-plastics. The wash bag is not treated with toxic UV protection and should be kept in a dark place when not in use. The laundry bag should not be rinsed under running water and cannot be ironed. A wrinkled surface is perfectly normal. Do not wash above 95 ° C and do not tumble dry.
Micro-plastics Quick Facts
The plastics travel into lakes and seas, for example via sewers, storm water and clearing snow. According to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, between 8-950 tonnes of micro-plastics (synthetic fibres) are released from washing clothes every year.
