- Traps microplastics
- Fits buckets & pails
- Easy to clean
With a microplastic filter for your scrubbing bucket, you can filter out small microplastic particles from the cleaning water when you empty the mop bucket. The fine mesh captures the microplastic particles and ensures that they do not follow the dirty water into the drain. Any sludge that gets stuck in the filter is easily removed by hand and disposed of in the household waste.
Easy to attach to a bucket or mop bucket
The microplastic filter fits all standard buckets, scrubbing buckets and mop buckets up to about 50 cm in diameter or 155 cm in circumference. Secure the filter around the bucket with the blue elasticated band. The clever fastening system makes it easy to include the microfibre filter in your cleaning routine and once you've secured the filter around the scrubbing bucket, it can stay in place forever.
Where do microplastics come from?
Microplastics usually come from scraped fibres and particles from carpets, clothes, curtains, upholstered furniture, blankets and shoes that settle on floor surfaces and get caught in dust bunnies. When you scrub the floors, the particles are captured and when you wring out the mop, the small particles are carried into the cleaning water.
By capturing the microplastics with the filter, you prevent the tiny particles from re-entering the environment when you pour the scrubbing water down the drain.
Clean the filter with a cloth
The microplastic filter can be wiped clean after use with a cloth or soft brush. NOTE! Do not rinse the filter under running water. You can machine wash the filter at 40°C degrees. Feel free to use Guppyfriends eco-friendly laundry bags when washing the filter. The microplastic filter should not be ironed or tumble dried.
Material
Guppyfriend's patented microplastic filter is made from a fine monofilament polyester thread that does not release microplastics.
Preventing microplastics from entering the environment
Wastewater treatment plants are able to filter out many of the microplastics that end up in wastewater, but not all. Removing microplastics yourself before they reach the treatment plant is the safest way to prevent microplastics from entering the environment.
