SmartaSaker's approach to sustainability

At SmartaSaker, we are committed to making responsible and sustainable choices for both our customers and the planet. Here are some of the initiatives we focus on to be as responsible as possible.

Our products and sales

Naturally, we ensure we are up to date with Swedish legislation and EU directives. Strict regulations in Sweden and the EU regarding CE marking and product safety aim to protect consumer health and safety. We aim for every product we offer to be durable and genuinely beneficial, which is why we prioritise quality and longevity. We reject the throwaway culture and encourage our customers to make well-considered purchases. To prevent unnecessary impulse buying, we do not partake in campaigns like Black Week.

Sustainable packaging and lower environmental impact

We maintain minimal volume for our e-commerce boxes and only utilise FSC-certified packaging made from recycled materials. This helps us reduce our environmental footprint and support sustainable resources.

Climate-compensated transport and renewable energy

In 2018, we were among the first Swedish companies to offset the carbon footprint of all our shipments, and we have been committed to this effective environmental measure ever since. Our office is powered by wind energy through our shares in Ljusterö Vind EF, and our warehouse is part of Apotea's logistics centre in Morgongåva, operating on solar and geothermal energy. Apotea also deploys electric trucks to curtail carbon emissions during the transit of parcels from the warehouse to the terminal.

Our partnership with the Swedish Red Cross

A significant aspect of our sustainability work since 2020 is our proud partnership with the Swedish Red Cross. In spring 2020, SmartaSaker commenced a partnership to create an emergency kit, following the advice of the Swedish Red Cross's crisis experts. The crisis box is sold to support the Swedish Red Cross's efforts during emergencies and disasters. For each box sold, SEK 100 is donated directly to the Swedish Red Cross.

We support Klimatkompensera.se

Klimatfinansiera.se is operated by Atmoz Consulting, a sustainability-focused company that has been aiding businesses and organisations in reducing their climate impact since 2006. They focus on calculating carbon emissions, crafting reduction strategies, providing training, and offering climate compensation opportunities. Their current initiative, Bhadla Solar Park, utilises India's ample sunshine and signifies a significant advancement towards sustainable energy.

We offer eco-friendly gadgets

We believe it is crucial to provide eco-friendly products that facilitate a greener lifestyle. Our range includes carefully chosen items designed to cut down on disposable bag use, simplify recycling, reduce food waste, and save water. You'll also discover solar-powered items, products made from sustainable materials, and innovative solutions to decrease energy wastage. Numerous eco-friendly innovations are Swedish creations. For instance, we offer an eco-friendly car wash that requires minimal water and Veggio – bags for fruits and vegetables that eliminate the need for single-use bags in shops.
