- Gives your plants the right amount of water
- Water indicator and integrated water reservoir
- Balcony bracket can be purchased as an accessory
The self-watering plant box from Lechuza makes it easy to plant and care for your flowers and plants all year round. The flower box's smart self-watering system ensures that the flowers get just the right amount of water and the small water indicator shows when you need to top up the built-in water reservoir.
Assembly and planting
Assemble the water indicator according to the instructions and insert it into the hole on the top. Then pour the leca balls provided into the bottom of the inner box. Spread them out evenly and make sure they fill all the holes in the bottom of the inner box. Then you can fill it with soil and plant your plants.
Water as usual for the first few weeks
After you have planted your plants, you should water the soil and flowers as usual for the first few weeks (about 10-12 weeks). Once the roots have found their way down to the leca balls to the bottom of the inner box, you can start using the water reservoir.
Tip! You can easily lift up the inner box a little now and then to see how far down the roots have reached.
Self-watering function
The water reservoir allows the plants to supply themselves with the amount of water they need. You do not need to water your plants every day, but can instead look at the water indicator and see when you need to add water to the water reservoir.
To refill water, lift the small cover by the water indicator and pour the water through the hole. When the water level in the water reservoir rises, the small float moves upwards and shows when the tank is full again.
Use indoors and outdoors
The flower box can be used both indoors and outdoors. The only adjustment you need to make is to remove the small plug at the bottom when the flower box is outdoors. When the plug is removed, excess rainwater can drain out, which prevents your plants from getting overwatered.
When the flower box is indoors, it is important that the plug is properly screwed in. The plug prevents water from running out onto the floor when you fill the water reservoir.
Practical handles
With the fold-down handles on the shorter sides, it's easy to lift the inner box out of the flower box. It will be easy to move the flower box, change the position according to the seasons and you can also plant your plants on a planting table and then lift them into the flower box.
Available accessories for the flower box
The flower box is delivered without a balcony bracket. However, you can supplement it with a balcony bracket that makes it easy to either hang the flower box on a balcony railing or attach it to a wall. Depending on how widely spaced the vertical balcony bars are, you may need to supplement the balcony bracket with a stabilizing rail for the balcony bracket.
