- An alternative to plastic bags
- Wash fruit while still in the bag
- Machine washable at 40 °C
Recycling is great, but reusing is even better. Veggio fruit and vegetable bag is a durable and practical mesh bag that replaces plastic bags when you're buying fruit and vegetables.
Bring a Veggio with you next time you're shopping and fill the bag with fruit, vegetables, potatoes, onions or other produce that you would normally use a plastic bag for. When you shop at the self service checkout and weigh and scan the items yourself, stick the label onto the tag on the bag. Transport the produce in the bag from the shop to the fridge.
Use the bags at homefor storage. The produce will be exposed to the air and stay fresh longer than it would in a plastic bag. Wash the fruit and vegetableswhile still in the bag through the mesh and then store in the fridge.
Wash the bag at 40 °C if it gets dirty and air dry. Shake the bag when it comes out of the machine so it doesn't get creased.
Veggio fruit and vegetable bags weigh just 11 grams and are approved for use with food. Made of 100% polyester.
Choose between a 3-pack and a 5-pack.
3-pack: 3 bags 28 cm x 28 cm.
5-pack: 2 bags 30x39 cm, 2 bags 28x28 cm, 1 bag 17x15 cm.
Why polyester?
Polyester is the most sustainable choice for reusable fruit and vegetable bags. Polyester doesn't soak up moisture or react with mould spores on fruit, making it a better choice than cotton or other organic materials. The mesh bags allows fruit to breathe and extends the life of produce.
Veggio is made of high quality material with a minimal amount of oil and long fibres. Long fibres are important so that the bag can be washed frequently and you can use it as many times as possible. A Veggio bag can easily handle up to 10 kg fruit.
Veggio's creatorsare involved in a project aimed at creating a bag made of organic fibres that can meet the necessary requirements for a produce bag, but polyester is still the best sustainable alternative until a suitable organic fibre can be designed.
Every year, the company behind Veggio also donates 1% of the profits to projects that work for the well-being of the world's oceans.
