- Approx. 100 homes made of Swedish reeds
- Provides protection against rain, wind and birds
- Use the top as a shelf
A bee hotel helps you provide wild bees with a good and secure home in your garden or on the balcony. Wild bees are among our most important pollinators and the bee hotel is a safe place for wild bees to take refuge and lay eggs.
The hexagonal bee hotel is filled with reeds from Sweden and can house up to 100 guests at once. The reeds are 8 to 14 centimetres deep and have varying diameters. As the diameters vary, they attract different kinds of wild bees such as mason bees, leafcutter bees, and other insects.
The wire net covering the front protects the hotel's residents against curious birds and the top section that juts out above the hotel protects the bees against the wind and rain. The flat roof also doubles as a practical shelf, where you could place a potted flower to attract even more bees to your hotel.
The bee hotel is easy to maintain and after a few years you can replace the reed during the winter. Nice and clean reeds help attract new guests and prevent diseases from spreading among bees. Note! If a reed is blocked with mud or leaves it may mean that there are larvae inside. If so, do not change that reed until the bees have exited it in the spring.
The bee hotel can easily be hung up using either two nails or two screws. We recommend that you hang the hotel facing southwards. The bee hotel can remain outside all year round and is oiled and painted with ecologically certified water-based paint.
The bee hotel is made of Swedish pinewood and reeds. Choose between a natural, red, or green colour.
