- To be connected between the solar panel and the pump
- Powers the pump even when the sun is not out
- Charged by the solar panel
With a rechargeable battery, the solar-powered bilge pump can drain the boat even when it is raining and overcast. The battery is charged via the solar panel and when fully charged, it powers the bilge pump to drain about 1000 litres of water.
The battery is specifically adapted for the solar-powered bilge pump and is easy to connect in between the solar panel and the bilge pump. The pump is powered directly from the solar panel in sunny weather but when it gets cloudy or starts to rain, the battery instead powers the pump to drain the boat from water. The pump capacity is 225 litres/hour (at 40 cm pumping height).
Timer function, perfect for light rain*
To optimize the battery capacity in light rain, you can use the timer function. The timer allows the battery to run the pump for only 10 minutes per hour. It provides more efficient use as the battery can work for a longer period of time instead of being switched off and on as soon as it rains. With the timer function, the capacity is about 6 mm of rain per hour.
A fully charged battery powers the pump to pump out 1000 litre of water which amounts to approximately 200 mm of rain. The battery has built-in protection for discharging and overcharge.
Attention! Make sure the battery is fully charged when not in use. Charge the battery with the solar cell for 5 hours before putting it away, to be sure it is fully charged. Then charge the battery one to two more times for 2 hours during the winter. When the sun is low, the solar cell needs to be oriented perpendicular to the sun to get enough solar energy.
